Crawling inside caves can be most leave bruises without the use of kneepads. There are two choices here:
1. Hard shell knee pads
2. Neoprene knee pads.

Although the latter does not provide full protection, it is less restricting than hard shell knee pads.
Balaclava

Some of us wear balaclavas to keep our heads warm or to make sure out helmets fit properly but they are a necessity if you like caves where it involves you ducking your head underwater!
Helmet

Essential. How will you see where you're going without one?

A range of helmet lights are available - you need to find one you like/have tested before buying. More information provided below.

Of course, caving kit can be expensive and there are usually a range of brands and choices of each item. You should talk to SUSS cavers about items of clothing, helmets and lights before buying anything as individual preference is also important.

Single Rope Technique (SRT) is the method of using rope to ascend and descend in pitches underground.  Here at Shefcavers, you can discover what owning an  SRT Kit involves.
