Ten Freshers piled up to the NPC hut for the First SUSS Freshers caving weekend of the year on 17th October. It was an absolutely brilliant weekend with trips to Yordas, Sunset hole, Great Duke, Manchester Pot, Groyden to Church Pot, County to Wretched Rabbit, Washfold, Calf Hole and Old Ing.

Tom 1 travelled up on Friday with AndyC and Adam and did some obscure caving. Manchester Pot was an uneventful trip with Large passage. IN Groyden the lads were not sure of the route and found a traverse along a rift with a 5m drop, backing away from something as committing as this they took a circular route – up a chain to a couple of digs and exited from Church Pot.

Friday night was games night with sling games and partying later. Saturday night saw more games with newbie Skippy falling victim to the spoon game and Tom1 winning the tin can push. Next away trip is CHECC, so it was essential the freshers were fully trained for this great event of british student caving clubs.
